Healthy "Guilty Pleasures"?

Today was a normal day. I woke up early, cleaned my house, fed my family two good meals, my husband went to work and I took my first break of the day by sitting down to watch a show I enjoy. It's called "The Doctors" and its usually very informative and interesting. However, todays show was called "How Your Guilty Pleasures can be Healthy". I began to watch and realized that the wording had just been fancied up. What they really wanted to say was "How sinning can be healthy". They preceded to condone partying, sex, drinking, excessive shopping, even gambling! I was shocked! But the real issue here is that I sat and watched it all! Why? Well really I was more in shock that this group of respected world reknown Doctors were promoting such a lifestyle. I guess I kept expecting sometime during the program for one of them to say "We just wanted to point out that this is all wrong we are just doing this for the ratings"lol I mean, SOMETHING like that! But, the last words of the show were "if you have a guilty pleasure, go ahead and enjoy it". So, my little break time and my first real time of relaxing during my days will no longer be spent watching "The Doctors" because I chose not to indulge in "Guilty Pleasures". I am a born again, holy, God fearing woman and Jesus died for me so that I did not have to be a slave to my sin any longer! I am SOLD OUT for him, and only him! That included the way I live, the way I dress, talk, think, act, and worship! As Christains, we should ALL be sold out for christ! The world is deteriorating, and it will not get any better...but as it gets worse, shouldn't the light of Jesus become that much more bright in our lives?
This leads me to a thought that has been on my mind the past few days. Although until today and watching that program, I was not quite sure how I would approach this topic. Basically though, the idea I need to put into words goes something like this: In these dark end times when the world is getting more evil every day, we need to rise up and let the light of the Lord shine through us. Through our lives, others should be able to see the love of Christ. We need to be Sold Out for the Lord! We need to answer a call to live holy, to say "That is wrong and I wont participate in it!", without feeling ashamed. Why should we feel embarrased to live acceptable and right before our God? Because the world is the one that has contorted the ways we should live. The world is the one that has made sin more and more mainstream and acceptable. It has taken the "shock factor" away from wrongdoing. It has dissolved the feelings of shame people used to have when doing wrong, and twised and turned it around. The Godly people that are trying so hard NOT to sin, the world wants you to feel shameful and embarrased in your ways. NO! Stomp your little holy foot right now and tell youself that you KNOW you are living right before the Lord, this world has nothing to offer, but we have everything in our Lord Jesus Christ. In this hour we cannot break and let these feelings be pushed onto us. Even though famous people, our world leaders, even the people closest to us may say it is healthy to indulge in "guilty pleasures" I am here to remind you that is only a fancy name made up to cover the real word: SIN.
"Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober and hope to the end for grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: but as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy."

  4. Good for you girl. I use to love watching Medium. But then I realized that I just couldn't focus on God when I wanted to worship him... because that show just kept rolling through my mind, so not only did I give it up... I quit my cable subscription altogether... and that was like 3 years ago.
