Hi my name is Tara and Im a Sinner.
A sinner saved by grace!!!When we become Christians do we get some super power that enables us to live perfect lives???
Absolutely not! We are each saved by grace, but also we are human. Are we put on more of a pedestal and expected to live above and beyond other peoples standards? Absolutly! But the fact is that we are humans; humans fail, humans have feelings they sometimes cant help, we do things we shouldn't do, and we regret things that happen still...the same as the unsaved person does.
WHATS THE DIFFERENCE?
When we are saved, when we claim the blood of Jesus on our lives, our sins, our imperfections, then he forgives us. He cleanses us, and he HELPS US. When we become saved, we no longer seek to put our problems on other people, but we realize we in fact ARE sinners, and we DO sin. The flesh is weak, everyone knows this. All any of us can do is to strive to live more Christlike.
I just want to say, since this happened to me very recently, that just because we are saved and live differently, we are still subject to make mistakes. I did a post not to long ago called "Im not better than you" which touched on this subject also, but I think its relavent to get these thoughts off my chest again so to speak. I AM NOT PERFECT. I MAKE MISTAKES. I HAVE FEELINGS I WISH I DIDNT HAVE SOME DAYS. I HAVE THOUGHTS I WISH I DIDNT HAVE SOME DAYS. What makes me special? What makes me any better than the next guy? Nothing. Besides the fact that I personally know that I can call on my Lord and Saviour to help me, to straighten me out again, and guide me as I struggle. I have a friend that wont judge when I talk to him of my innermost feelings, and I call on him frequently to help me along.
***To my fellow Christians, Yes..we are expected to live somehow "flawless" by the worlds standards. That if we claim to have been "saved" that somehow that makes us superhuman, capable of living a sin free life. We know this isnt true. No man is without sin. We also know the only thing "fix" for our human nature is through the Lord helping us. Just keep pressing forward, ignore those living in the world that would try to bring you down, pray for them and just keep doing your thing. God is the judge of how worthy you are, not another human being. And most of the time when someone says, "Well....I THOUGHT you were a Christian" with the intentions of just 'catching you up', just remember they are probably only trying to relate their own lifestyle/experiences to you in order to justify something in their own lives. Lets just pray for them as the bible tells us to, and turn our other cheek.
**** To those that are disecting and trying to 'catch up' the Christians; if you look hard enough at anyone, you will find their flaws. Jesus taught of love, kindness, and forgiveness. We dont claim to have found a magical fruit that makes us exempt from living as humans, we do fail, and if you are looking for it, you will find that NOPE we're not perfect. The difference you WILL find is that we will admit up front that we ARE SINNERS..will ALWAYS BE SINNERS, and that the only thing that saves us is Jesus Christ and the blood he shed on Calvary for us. The bible talks about people doing this in Matthew it says this
“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye."

Hi Tara. Awesome post. I sometimes feel though that its other Christians that judge one another the harshest. Its like that saying, 'the christian army is the only army that injures its own soldiers' Great reminder for me for the weekend ahead. Thanks
ReplyDeleteGod bless
