Tips on teaching your Children Gods Love Daily

Since I last talked about my own battle with Social Media and my strayed walk with the Lord, I have been very focused on making some changes in my life. One of the biggest, spending more one on one time with my Children. Another, making sure we are in attendance at our new and wonderful church home that we have found each and every Sunday (Isn't it amazing how the devil works to try to keep us home on those Sunday mornings).

Today I want to share with you something I have been thinking about and actually found in the bible today! It was a principle that is easy enough and I practice this in homeschooling everyday.

Teaching as life Happens. Teaching wherever we are, whatever we are doing, talking and teaching the Children about the things around them!

So, while I do this with homeschooling and talk to them on walks, and while we cook dinner, or play together I am always trying to find something new to teach them or re-enforce what we've been learning; shouldn't we be doing that with Gods word too?

YES! In fact, it's wrote about in the bible!

Deuteronomy 6: 4-9

“Listen, people of Israel! The Lord is our God. The Lord is the only God. You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Always remember these commands that I give you today. Be sure to teach them to your children. Talk about these commands when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road. Talk about them when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them on your hands and wear them on your foreheads to help you remember my teachings. Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.

This is so awesome to find! This reinforces that yes we should be teaching our children not only about the world and things they need to know in order to grow academically, but this verse commands us to teach them about Gods LOVE daily!
Talk about them when you sit down to eat dinner, when we are sitting in our house (playing), when we go on walks as we do daily, and when I am telling them their bedtime story and doing prayers!

Some ways to do these things?

*When you sit down to dinner, after prayer, go around the table and ask each person to share one thing they learned this week about the bible. Or one thing they are thankful for that God has given us.

*When playing (we typically are either playing dollhouse or with cars and I point out colors and other things to my son) simply talk to them about the Lord, tell a bible story with the dollhouse people!

*When you go on walks (we walk to the gas station once a day to get usually a vanilla pepsi for myself lol) talk to your children. I usually do things like 'stop and listen' with my 2 year old son. And ask him what he hears. Also another game we play is 'find something red/green/whatever color"then he looks at his surroundings and finds something. We also talk about the weather and I teach him that. But WOW what a chance to speak of Gods LOVE and creations on walks! Point out the animals, the trees, the sky, the grass, there are so many things outdoors to teach of Gods love!

*When they lay down to sleep! I normally tell a bedtime story from my imagination., and my 6 year old loves it, they are based around my own childhood memories so she loves hearing these and about things I used to do with her papaw (my dad) and such. What another chance to really talk to her about Gods LOVE! I can easily tell her stories of how God has worked in my own life! Put a fairytale, bed time story spin on them and then as we normally do talk to her about what she learned from it!

These are just a few of my ideas! If you have some of your own please share with me in the comments!

Be blessed and be inspired!
